Giuditta Scalco

Giuditta is a third-year Ph.D. student in the IFSN Lab. Her research interest lies in exploring what factors (e.g., social aspects, political ideology, environmental factors, and culture) are associated with the ever-changing threat of far-right terrorism and white supremacy. Specifically, she seeks to holistically understand the fundamental drivers behind engagement (i.e., radicalization) and disengagement (i.e., de-radicalization) with violent and non-violent far-right extremism. Within her doctoral studies, she is researching the cognitive mechanisms underlying racial, ethnic, and religious prejudice, as well as misogyny, among individuals who endorse white supremacy. Moreover, using neuroimaging techniques, she is further exploring the neural correlates associated with intergroup threat perceptions. Giuditta holds a BSc in Psychology and an MSc in War and Psychiatry from King’s College London, where she worked as a research assistant at the King’s Centre for Military Health Research. Outside of academia, Giuditta enjoys hiking, traveling, and motorsports. Pronouns: she/her. Expected Graduation 2028.
